After dating for a few months, rumor has it that the couple is now engaged!

Katherine was spotted with a pretty large ring on one important finger at a Hangout music festival this past week. In the picture below she was seated next to model Chrissy Teigen.

If the rumors are true and she is indeed engaged, that could be just another way to top off the pretty awesome year both Katherine and AJ have been having. From a stint on “Splash”, to covering the Super Bowl, to appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, I wouldn’t mind trading places with the former Miss Alabama for a little while.

1. Honey Badger gains extra from Cards

            Tyrann Mathieu signed a three-year contract that is worth over $3 million with the Arizona Cardinals, $100,000 more than last years 69^th pick in the draft. The contract also protects the team against any drug-related relapses.

2. A-Rod sells house

            Alex Rodriquez sold his Miami beach house for $30 million, making a $15 million profit! According to Sotheby’s Reality, the house is over 20,000 square feet with an outdoor kitchen, a roof deck, a steam room, and 275 feet of water frontage with two docks! Our only questions is, when he finds a new beach house, what else could he possibly want?!

            Phillies five-time All-Star second baseman has been put on the 15-day disabled list for oblique strains but could be out two to four weeks.

4. Montero demoted

            The Seattle Mariners sent their highly regarded young catcher from the Yankees farm system back to the minors. Jose Montero has only been hitting a batting average of .208 with a .264 OBP. Not good numbers for someone who was compared to Miguel Cabrera on the reg.

5. Tony Allen offers support for tornado relief

            Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen has pledged to match donations made to the Oklahoma tornado relief in both Games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference Finals.

6. Pope likes his new jersey

            The Boston Celtics minority owner, James Pallotta, made a trip to the Vatican and brought a special gift for The Pope: his own Celtics jersey sporting the number 1 and “The Pope” embroidered on the back. Pope Francis was all smiles upon receiving the gift.

7. Kreider gets OT goal, Rangers win Game 4

            The New York Rangers came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits on Thursday night to tie Game 4 and take it into overtime. Chris Kreider got a goal 7:03 into overtime for the Rangers 4-3 victory over the Bruins. The Boston Bruins lead the series 3-1.

8. Canucks fire head coach

            The Vancouver Canucks fired head coach Alain Vigneault on Wednesday, shortly after they were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs. The Canucks also let go assistant coaches Rick Bowness and Newell Brown.

9. Andy Sutton retires

            Veteran defensemen Andy Suttor retired after a 15-year career in the NHL. Sutton has played for the Minnesota Wild, Atlanta Thrashers, New York Islander, San Jose Sharks, Ottawa Senators, Anaheim Ducks, and most recently, the Edmonton Oilers.

1. Heat Takes Overtime Thriller

After keeping fans on the edge of their seats all night, Pacers’ Paul George hit a three to send Game 1 of the Eastern Finals to overtime.  The two teams kept the suspense until the last second, when the Heat took the game 103-102 after this year’s MVP, LeBron James, laid the ball in and time expired.

2. Pens Top Sens

The Pittsburgh Penguins scored four goals in the fourth period to top the Ottawa Senators 7-3.  The Penguins now hold a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series.

3. Coach K Agrees to ’16 Olympics

After the 2012 Olympics, Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski denied that he’d return to compete on the world stage again.  However, it was revealed that Coach K has agreed to take on the position with hopes of leading the USA to a gold once more.

4. Urlacher Announces Retirement

Yesterday, Brian Urlacher announced his retirement from the NFL after 13 seasons as an iconic Chicago Bears linebacker.  Between Urlacher and D-Rose, I’m not sure how much more heartbreak Chicago can take.

5. MRI Shows Carmelo Has Small Tear In Shoulder

An MRI showed that All Star, Carmelo Anthony has a small tear in a shoulder muscle.  The Knicks are hopeful that Melo will not need surgery and plan to allow him to rest for the next three-to-four weeks in an attempt to allow the injury to heal.  If it is not healed at that point, surgery will be considered.

6. Orioles Top Yankees

After a heartbreaking loss Monday night, the Orioles came back to win the next two games of the series.  Chris Davis went 4-for-4, including his American League leading 14th homer, and Baltimore got a three-run shot from Matt Wieters in a 6-3 victory over the New York Yankees.

7. San Francisco’s Crabtree Undergoes Surgery

It was announced the Michael Crabtree of the San Francisco 49ers suffered a torn Achilles tendon and underwent surgery.  Coach Jim Harbaugh has not said when Crabtree will be cleared for play, but 49ers fans all over the country are keeping their fingers crossed that the injury will not be season ending.

8. Garcia Places Foot In Mouth

After making racially insensitive remarks directed at Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia has apologized, saying he had difficulty sleeping and contemplated withdrawing from this week’s European Tour event.  After a two week feud between the two athletes, Garcia has acknowledged that his comments were “totally stupid and out of place.”  Maybe now these two can get back to work and beat each other up on the course, rather than exchanging petty words – remember boys, actions speak louder than words!

9. Sports Illustrated Announces Their Athletes of the Year

In addition to the annual swimsuit addition, fans often await the crowning of SI’s of the Athletes of the Year.  This year, Kyle Dake, of the Cornell wrestling team; and Loren Shealy, of the University of North Carolina field hockey team, took the title for male and female athlete of the year, respectively.

10. NCAA Tennis Championships Kick Off

This year’s DI NCAA Tennis Championships are set to begin in Urbana, IL at the University of Illinois.  Competition will begin May 16 and last through May 27.  USC has taken the men’s title for the past four years.  Can they go for five?

But what does Elin (Tiger’s ex-wife and baby mama) think about all of this?

Rumor has it that she approves of Lindsey and her spending time around Sam and Charlie (the kids), who Tiger and Lindsey took fishing last week!

Apparently the EXPENSIVE divorce settlement states that Tiger can’t have his kids meet his new girl unless Elin approves, and it looks like she does, since Lindsey and the kids have even been photographed together.

Some are also saying that the golfer and skier are considering a marriage, but before they can do that Tiger is busy caught in some drama regarding fellow golfer Sergio Garcia. Tiger and Sergio have been long-standing enemies, but Sergio may have crossed the line when he jokingly suggested that he would have Tiger over for dinner before the U.S. Open and serve him fried chicken.

Garcia claims he wasn’t intending to be racist, but Tiger responded on Twitter saying that the comment was “wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate”. Yikes. Wouldn’t want to be caught in that one.

After being released by the Chicago Bears earlier this year, former Pro Bowler linebacker Brian Urlacher has announced his retirement from professional football.

He played with the Bears – and only the Bears – for thirteen years, and says he leaves with “no regrets”.

When he was let go back in March, Urlacher hoped he might sign with another team, but there wasn’t much interest. Although the Vikings were rumored to have some interest in him, they moved on and Brian was left without a team.

He says he “will miss the great game” but appears to be done playing for good. He thinks though, that if Lovie Smith was still the coach for the Bears, that he would still be with the team. Interesting.

Kevin Durant, star of the Oklahoma City Thunder, donated $1 million to the Red Cross for relief efforts. He didn’t even announce it-the Red Cross tweeted about the huge donation, which came through his Durant Family Foundation.

He gave an interview about his donation while watching a friend play in Minnesota. Durant says he “call[s] Oklahoma City home now” and that they’re “a city that comes together and we’ll bounce back from this. It’s tough. It’s tough right now. But the sun’s gonna shine soon. So we’ve just got to stick together.” He said that he “is just trying to do anything I can to help. It’s such a tough situation,” and he’s “just trying to help the families out as much as I can.”

The city of Moore is going to need lots of help, but it’s so great to see athletes stepping up to help out their cities. A million dollars is a pretty huge chunk of change and it will surely go along way. You go, Mr. Durant.

After an All-Star rookie year, Mike Trout is back at the top of our “wish I picked him for Beat The Streak” list. Trout not only had his first game of the season with at least three hits, he hit for the cycle! Ah, the cycle, one of the coolest things a player can hit in the game.

Trout took his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning: Trout struck out looking on three pitches.

Bottom of the third: Trout hits a shallow hit to first baseman Justin Smoak, who tosses the ball to Aaron Harran for the footrace to first. Trout beats it out. Safe.

Bottom of the fourth: Trout hits a long drive to right-center field. Triple.

Bottom of the sixth: Trout sends the ball into the corner of left field.Clears the bases. Double.

Bottom of the eighth: With Lucas Luetge pitching, the count to Trout is 2-0. Luetge throws a 91 mph sinker that Trout sends flying into center field, gooooing, gooooing, GONE. Homerun.

The Los Angeles Angels shut out the Seattle Mariners 12-0

Trout, 21 years and 287 days old, is the youngest AL player to hit for the cycle, the first to hit for the cycle this season, and the sixth player in the Angeles franchise to do it.

1. Anchored stroke banned

            The US Golf Association and Royal & Ancient Gold Club announced that they outlawed anchored stokes. An anchored stroke is when a player “anchors” a golf club to their body when making a stroke. The rule takes effect January 1, 2016, and will likely be faced with litigation from those who oppose the rule, such as the PGA.

2. Tony Romo has surgery

            Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo recently had to undergo back surgery to remove a cyst. While he won’t be able to participate in any spring activities, he should be able to play by training camp.

3. Mattheus breaks hand out of anger

            Washington Nationals relief pitcher Ryan Mattheus had a bit of a meltdown after Sunday’s loss against the Padres, where he allowed five runs in one inning contributing to the 13-4 loss. Mattheus punched a locker after the game, breaking his own hand, and didn’t tell Nats staff until Monday before the game in San Francisco.

4. Vogelsong fractures hand

            As if the Baseball Gods eavesdropped on Mattheus revealing his injury in SF, Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong fractured his hand. Vogelsong was hit by a pitch from Craig Stammen in the bottom of the fifth, and knew immediately he broke his hand as he went to take his base. X-rays revealed two fractures in his pinkie. Vogelsong’s wife tweeted that he will be out for six weeks.

5. Yankees partner with Manchester City

            The New York Yankees have partnered with Manchester City to create Major League Soccer’s 20^th team that will start playing in 2015. The New York City Football Club will be owned by Manchester City Owner, Sheik Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, (say that five times fast…), and Yankees President Randy Levine will be responsible for launching the team.

6. Kemp donates to tornado victims

            After the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 victory over the Milwalkee Brewers on Monday night, Matt Kemp tweeted that he will donate $1,000 to the tornado victims in Oklahoma for the home run he hit. He also vowed to donate $1,000 more for every home run he hits until the All-Star Break. Kemp’s hometown is Midwest City, Oklahoma.

7. Bobcats changing name

            Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan is changing the team nickname to the Hornets. The Charlotte Hornets, owned by George Shinn, played from 1988-2002 before moving to New Orleans. The New Orleans Hornets officially changed their name to the New Orleans Pelicans (the previous New Orleans team before the Hornets), so the nickname is available now for the Bobcats. The change is expected to take about 18 months.

8. Terrence Williams arrested

            Terrence Williams of the Boston Celtics was arrested on Sunday for making threats to his child’s mother while bearing a gun. Kent, Wash. police have labeled the case as domestic violence under investigation.

9. Mark Messier Award finalists announced

            Finalist have been announced for the Mark Messier Leadership Award, given to players to exemplify leadership on and off the ice. This year’s finalist are: Daniel Alfredsson from the Ottawa Senators, who works with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, Dustin Brown from the Los Angeles Kings, who has donated $50 a hit since the 2008-2009 season to The Newborn and Infant Critical Care Unit at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks, who works with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and participated in the “Goals for Dreams Hockey Challenge.” The winner will be announced during the Stanley Cup Finals.

10. Shannon Miller is pregnant

            Seven-time Olympic medalist and two-time world all around champion gymnast, Shannon Miller, is expecting a baby girl in June. Miller was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer in 2010, and after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy, she says she is now cancer free.

Lots of penalties, two periods of scoreless play, and a controversial no-goal land the Detroit Red Wings with a 2-1 series lead over the Chicago Blackhawks.  Even if you’re only tuned in to the on ice action for the brawls, Game 4 promises to be a nail biter.

2. Yankees Win in the Tenth

Monday night’s game closed out as Travis Hafner hit the team’s fourth solo home run, setting the stage for the New York Yankee’s win in 10 innings.  This game also held a special place in the hearts of Yankees fans everywhere as it marked Mariano Rivera’s 625th career game.

3. RGIII cashes in on the generosity of his fans

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is set to marry Rebecca Liddicoat on July 6th in Virginia.  On Sunday, RGIII took to Twitter to share a picture of the gifts fans have purchased off of the couple’s Bed, Bath & Beyond registry.  Apparently dropping $100.00+ on a ticket is no longer acceptable, fans better start sending gifts around the holidays too.

4. DeShaun Thomas refuses to give up his digits

In a world where recruits will do anything to make it big, a few heads are turned when a player entering the draft actually pushes back against potential employers.  When the San Antonio Spurs asked Thomas for his cell phone number to continue their correspondance regarding a possible deal, he refused, astonishing many fans.  He is currently listed as the 45th best prospect, which means he may not even be selected in June’s draft, so one would expect him to be bending over backwards for a chance to talk with the Spurs.  Whatever his reasoning is, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out next month.

5. Soccer Season Comes to a Close

England’s Premier League has officially wrapped up.  Coming out on top of ESPN’s analysis this year was Manchester United, Tottenham, Everton, Liverpool, West Brom, Swansea, and West Ham.  On the bottom?  Manchester City and Arsenal.  (And I’m not just saying that as a Liverpool Fan)

6. Buffalo’s Newest QB Says New System is “Easy”

EJ Manuel, drafted this year by the Buffalo Bills, has taken to the press to say that his Coach’s new system isn’t all that bad.  In fact, he thinks it will be easier for him than the system previously run by him in Florida.  Although this is great news for Bills fans, Upstate New York shouldn’t get their hopes up too soon; only time will tell if the new coaching staff and on field leadership can bring it on Sundays this Fall.

7. NCAA Lacrosse Championship Weekend is a GO

Memorial Day marks the time when guys and girls alike break out their snapbacks, pinnies, and PBR.  Each year, eight teams meet in one location to bring the best that college lacrosse has to offer.  This year, representing Division I, Syracuse, Duke, Cornell, and Denver will compete for a title.  Representing Division II will be LeMoyne and Mercyhurst.  Finally, representing Division III is the Rochester Institute of Technology and Stevenson.  Philly better buckle up for the craziness coming their way!

8. NCAA Baseball Plays On

Baseball is one of the more demanding sports for a student athlete to take on.  It requires cutting your summer short and sacrificing what you may have left of your shoulders.  Between now and June 26th, athletes all over the country wil play to bring back the championship trophy from Omaha, Nebraska to one of the many contending schools around the nation.  Tickets can be purchased now at NCAA.com.

9. NCAA Softball Heads to Double Elimination Play

From now until June, 4th, sixteen teams will compete for the Division I National Softball Title in Oklahoma City.  Eight teams from Division II will play in search of the title, and Tufts recently took the Division III Title after scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Cortland State 6-5 and capture the program’s FIRST national championship.  Michelle Cooprider also collected two RBIs in the Jumbos’ win.

10. NCAA Calls for stricter rules in Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Alike

The NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee has announced a change to how block/charge calls will be made, and the NCAA Women’s Basketball Rules Committee has added that they will be incorporating a 10-second backcourt rule.  On the Men’s side, rule makers believe that these changes will help to allow for more offensive freedom while creating a better balance between offense and defense.  On the Women’s side, committee members believe that adding the 10-second rule will increase the tempo of the game and create more offensive scoring opportunities; creating a solution to a large criticism of women’s sports.

About a week ago, the top high school recruit in the country, Andrew Wiggins, chose Kansas as his college of choice. Hailing from Canada, Wiggins, the 6 foot 7 forward was also considering Florida State, North Carolina and Kentucky. After signing his letter of intent, he said that he’s “looking forward to doing his thing.”

And the good news keeps coming for the Jayhawks- 6 foot 9 power forward Tarik Black has transferred to Kansas from Memphis. He already has a degree, but is eligible to play for his senior season. Coach Self is “thrilled”. In a statement he said that Black “will be a huge addition” and “will be the most experienced guy on our team entering next season.” Duke and Georgetown were both interested in him when he announced his desire to transfer, but he, like Wiggins chose Kansas.

Along with a bunch of other talented players, Bill Self must be pretty excited to add these two to his roster. They were so close in the 2012 NCAA tournament, losing in the championship game to Kentucky, and made it to the Elite Eight this year. Not good enough for this basketball club, though, and I’m sure Bill Self and his boys are going to do whatever it takes to make it back to that National Championship, with a help from Wiggins and Black.
